Within the world of graphic design, lettering is basically illustrating with words, phrases or numbers in order to convey unique visual personality to our message. After decades of using software as their exclusive work tool, graphic designers today are rediscovering custom lettering, the creative and expressive power of illustrating with handmade typography. Whether chalk, pencil or ink is used, lettering has a distinctive visual and physical effect, and it provides endless possibilities for expressing ideas through a more artful use of type, texture and volume.
Structured into four sections on lettering collections, single lettering, lettering on objects and lettering in space, Scripted is a compilation of a diverse range of custom lettering projects produced by graphic designers and typographers from around the world.
