Against this backdrop the book presents an overview of food design projects that Katja Gruijters has been working on. With many pictures this design book will feed your mind, and inspire new ways of thinking about ingredients, dishes, meals, and whatever we can use to nourish ourselves, both adequately and enjoyably.
> Katja Gruijters is Food & Beverage Designer, the first food designer in the Netherlands. Katja graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1998. During her time there, she had already started to specialise in designing food and drink. As part of her final project she looked at different ways of designing meat substitutes. Her high-protein dough balls and filled seaweed rolls actually led to her first job in the food sector. She soon decided to call herself a food designer, explaining at the same time that she worked on concepts for both food and drink. She develops her own products and ideas. In recent years she has regularly exhibited her work in the Netherlands and other countries. Katja also gives workshops and works as a visiting lecturer.
> Ed van Hinte is an industrial designer and design critic. He is the author of Eternally Yours, Time in Design, Superuse and monographs on Wim Rietveld, Ed Annink and Richard Hutten.
