C3 345: Death and Architecture / Building the End / Architecture of Memorial

This edition takes death and memorial as its themes, focusing on the architectural production surrounding the rituals and interpretations of eternal rest, as well as the presence of absence. The varied typology of this architecture, which “becomes the connecting tissue of a cyclical existence, intertwining individuals from different generations, decades, and even centuries,” is represented by ten examples from a range of architects, including Karres en Brands, HGA, Bernardo Bader, Clavel Arquitectos and COR & Asociados. Remembrance is illustrated in seven additional works, among them the National September 11 Memorial and Kazerne Dossin.
