Global Danish Architecture #2: Housing/Boliger

di Marianne Ibler

This book presents a panorama of the Danish housing architecture as it developed during the building boom in Denmark in the beginning of 2000. It is a source of information and inspiration for everyone interested in housing and architecture. It presents 50 completely new projects created and designed by 21 important Danish ar¬chitect studios: Arkitema, aart a/s, BIG, C.F. Møller Architects, COBE, Cubo arkitekter, Entasis, Friis & Moltke, GPP Architects A/S, Henning Larsen Architects A/S, JDS Architects, Kjaer & Richter, KPF Arkitek¬ter as, LBB3 COM., Lundgaard & Tranberg A/S, 3XN A/S, Nobel Arkitekter A/S, schmidt ham¬mer lassen, STUFF ApS, Tegnestuen Vandkunsten ApS, and Vilhelm Lauritzen AS. This book aims at anyone interested in new Danish housing ar¬chitecture today and interior design of dwellings and contains special essays written by the former Danish Minister for Culture, Brian Mikkelsen, about the first Danish architecture policy.
The Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Ritt Bjerregaard, writes about her latest visions about The Good City in the book.

Some of the best architectural publications today are hybrid book-journals sometimes called 'bookazines', the most well-known being the Spanish Journal EL Croquis. So it's no surprise that the richest and most rewarding of the Scandinavian volumes on my desk are such hybrids, namely two of the Global Danish Architecture series, edited by Marianne Ibler. The first volume #1 , has a wide variety of building types by an equally wide range of offices, large and small, while the second #2, focuses entirely on housing created by Danish Firms.
