Architecture has always found a fundamental field of experimentation in the single-family home, when it transcends the simple image that equals everything to create a work of architecture that serves as a support for this investigation, as a visual reflection.
And in these areas, Luciano Kruk gets rid of any pretense to precisely propose. This experimentation is what makes the difference and an exercise of minimum attention is enough in certain aspects in which it is always difficult to pretend: details, thicknesses, encounters…
This reflection is visible in the pages of this monograph that collect the plans and details together with the photographs in a selection of 13 isolated houses and 3 collective housing buildings carried out in the last decade by this young and promising Argentine architect.
In Kruk’s work, the elegance of a few decisions allows the space to speak.
The volumes of his houses are essentially simple, clear and forceful, although they are later nuanced and enriched with a variety of subtleties, folds and delicate transformations.
Each decision is part of a set of visual values in a predetermined search: nothing is superfluous, nothing is missing, in a synthesis exercise as difficult as it is delicate.
Luciano Kruk recovers this tradition of material language in the best of ways. We could link it with brutalism, with the São Paulo school, possibly with the work of Paulo Mendes da Rocha, and following the thread to the root with the textures of the concrete in certain works by Le Corbusier.
