Diébédo Francis Kéré was born in 1965 in Gando, Burkina Faso, and studied at the Technical University of Berlin. In 2005 he founded Kéré Architecture, an internationally recognised practice that develops innovative construction strategies combining traditional techniques and materials with modern engineering methods. This book features the Lycée Schorge Secondary School in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, in which the architect involved the local community for every phase, helping people to take inspiration from their identity. Built using local materials and techniques, the project answers practical questions like natural interior ventilation and waste reduction.
