MARIO CAMPI. Architectures and Architectural Design: Architect 1985-2000

Mario Campi (* 1936 in ZA1 / 4rich) opened his own architecture A1 / 4ro in Lugano in 1962 after completing his studies at the ETH ZA1 / 4rich. From 1977 to 1984, Campi taught intensively at American universities (including Cornell and Harvard), and has been a professor at the ETH since 1985. Campi’s strictly formal and elegantly composed buildings, in a creative continuation of Italian rationalism, are characterized by a reduction to the essentials. Buildings which, with all their functionality and contemporaryity, exude a fascinating spirit of classic serenity. This monograph gives a qualified and detailed overview A1 / 4 of the projects and buildings in recent years – including the residential buildings in Lugano and the newly completed chemical buildings for the ETH in ZA1 / 4rich – and also introduces Mario Campi’s fruitful analytical approach Teaching and practice for representation.
