C3 366: Urban How. Into the Historic Fabric / Dwell How. We Live in the Wood(s) / Casagrande Laboratory

This instalment has three main themes: architectural insertions, houses in nature, and the Casagrande Laboratory. Building into the historic fabric of cities is one of the main challenges of contemporary architecture, and three examples are the Pathé Foundation by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the London School of Economics student centre by O’Donnell+Tuomey, and the Seona Reid Building by Steven Holl. Dwellings in nature are a timeless typology, for which six recent examples are given, including Atelier Oslo’s Cabin Norderhov and Villa Bruun by Häkli Architects. Finally, an interview with architect Marco Casagrande precedes an extensive feature on his projects.
