Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa was among the most influential figures in south Asia. In houses, hotels, public buildings and his country estate at Lunuganga, Bawa achieved the harmonious and pleasurable fusion of local building traditions with modern forms. His forty-year career has become legendary across the world and remains an inspiration for generations of architects.
Bawa was the principal force behind what is today known globally as ‘tropical modernism’, and examples of his ideas can be found in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Bali but also throughout wider Asia. Beyond Bawa considers his continuing influence through the work of contemporary architects working in the region.
The first section of the book is an overview of Bawa and his contribution to contemporary architecture which presents material that has come to light since the publication of Geoffrey Bawa: The Complete Works. The main section is the presentation of twenty-four contemporary architects, ranging from well-known practitioners such as Australian Kerry Hill to local talents such as Anjalendran, and works they have created over the past ten years that reveal the long-lasting significance of Bawa’s uniquely sensitive approach to building and the landscape.

David Robson is the authority on Geoffrey Bawa and delivered Bawa’s eulogy at the Aga Khan Award Ceremony in Aleppo in 2001. Robson worked as an adviser on housing and settlement planning to the government of Sri Lanka between 1979 and 1983 and was involved in its acclaimed ‘Hundred Thousand Houses’ programme. Recently he has been Professor of Architecture at the University of Brighton and Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore. Richard Powers (Photographs by) is an internationally recognized photographer of architecture, interiors, lifestyle and gardens.

Il diritto di recesso dovrà essere esercitato mediante invio di lettera raccomandata A.R. a: LIMOND S.a.s. – via Arnolfo di Cambio 24/A – 37138 Verona (VR) – entro il termine di 10 (dieci) giorni lavorativi dal ricevimento dei volumi.
Tutti i resi dovranno essere autorizzati da Limond S.a.s (tel. +393472455641) con l’assegnazione di un numero di autorizzazione alla resa. Le spese di spedizione saranno interamente a carico del cliente e non si accetteranno pacchi in contrassegno.
Al ricevimento dei volumi, e verificata la loro integrità, Limond S.a.s. provvederà, entro 10 (dieci) giorni, ad accreditare il cliente del valore dei volumi restituiti.
La tempestività nell’evasione dell’ordine è determinata dalla disponibilità della merce ordinata. In caso di immediata disponibilità l’ordine verrà evaso entro 2 giorni lavorativi.
